Engineering Intern
CATCON, a licensed Construction Management, Design, and Construction company, is seeking potential applicants for UOG Engineering students to work with the company under an Internship Program. This internship offers hands-on experience and the opportunity to learn from seasoned professionals in a supportive environment.
Key Opportunities:
- Professional Development: Take advantage of learning opportunities within the company to gain practical experience, develop construction-related skills, and understand industry best practices.
- Assisting Project Engineers: Support project engineers in various aspects of construction projects, including planning, scheduling, and execution.
- CAD Drafting and Design: Assist in creating shop drawings.
- Site Inspections: Participate in site visits and inspections to observe construction progress, identify potential issues, and ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
- Quantity Takeoffs: Assist in performing quantity takeoffs from construction drawings and specifications to estimate material and labor requirements for projects.
- Procurement Support: Aid in the procurement process by assisting with supplier identification, obtaining quotes, negotiating process, and coordinate logistics.
- Safety Management: Participate in safety meetings, inspections, and audits to promote a safe working environment on construction sites. Help identify potential hazards and suggest corrective actions.
- Quality Control: Assist in quality control activities, such as inspecting construction materials, monitoring workmanship, and ensuring compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
- Collaboration: Work closely with engineers and other team members to brainstorm ideas, exchange feedback, and contribute to engineering problem-solving.
- Data Entry: Assist in data entry tasks, maintaining accurate records and spreadsheets.
- Research: Conduct research on various topics as directed, providing summaries and recommendations.
- Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall objectives of the office.
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in an Engineering program; 3rd and 4th year students.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
- Punctuality and reliability in completing assigned tasks.
